Bluebonnets
Bluebonnets, 40x16, oil on canvas
Although I have spent the better part of my life in the Rocky Mountain region and call it home, I was born in Texas. And even though, my childhood was spent playing in mountains and rivers, I have memories of Texas springs and the wildflower season that came with it. Starting in late March, swaths of blue start to pop along the interstate and spread through the Hill Country. I took many drives and many pictures of these beautiful flowers. This painting is dedicated to those memories and while it’s still cold and snowy in Colorado, this pop of color and light is a reminder that spring is on her way.
